Description
I. DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Informatics Educator/Analyst (CIEA) will collaborate as a member of the Information Technology Department and assist with coordination, planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of clinical information systems. The CIEA will be accountable for measurable improvements in clinician satisfaction with technology, and in the use of the technology to facilitate best practices, promote patient safety, improve workflow, and reduce errors. The CIEA is responsible for training, supporting, and assisting with the optimization of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR), including its components (i.e. Order Sets, Clinician Documentation, Medication administration, etc.). This position works closely and collaborates with the information systems, patient care services, medical records and the education departments to improve and maximize the computerized medical record. In addition, this position serves as an EHR Physician Liaison and assists clinical and non-clinical employees in the workflow needs of the EHR.
 

II. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
  1. Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Nursing

Current state licensure as Registered Nurse

    1. Experience Requirements:

One year minimum in informatics/analyst role

Two years minimum as a Registered Nurse

Knowledge of current Paragon and Wellsoft EHR programs preferred

    1. Special Requirements:

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to maintain a professional working relationship with area specific departments, and have the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally. Must possess Project Management Skills and initiative on projects and must possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

 

         

III. JOB RELATED HAZARDS

 

Most job functions will take place in an air-conditioned office with little exposure to hazardous or infectious materials. Customer contact may cause some exposure to infection. Employee may be required to perform duties in storage areas. Possible long hours of sitting at a computer terminal is routine.  Some lifting, stooping, and pushing will be necessary. Local travel to clinics and physician’s offices required.
