Description
  1. DESCRIPTION
    General Function: Production is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving meals in accordance with established quality and safety standards within the Nutrition Services department. This role ensures proper food handling, portion control, sanitation, and presentation for patient meals, cafeteria services, and special events. The Food Service Aide collaborates with team members to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment while demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to customer service.
  2. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
    • ​​​​​​​Educational Requirements: 
      • ​​​​​​​High school graduation or equivalent preferred.  Must have the ability to read, write and follow instructions both verbal and written.
    • Experience Requirements:
      • Previous cooking experience is desirable; hospital/health care setting preferred.  Knowledge of proper body mechanics, skills to operate kitchen equipment, portion control, emergency procedures, (particularly in the event of fire), and knowledge of Health Department Standards.
  3. JOB RELATED HAZARDS
    • Work is inside and requires considerable standing and walking in and about the department; some lifting, stooping, bending as required to perform duties; must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to meet deadlines; may be required to work evenings/weekends/holidays to meet staffing needs; must have home telephone.
    • Employees are responsible for the exercising of maximum care and good judgment in preventing accidents.  Also no job shall be considered completes unless the worker him/herself has followed every precaution and operations rule to protect him/her and others from bodily injury.
