Description
West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital is seeking a Scrub Tech/Unit Secretary to join our Labor & Delivery (L&D) team. This dual-role position combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient unit operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Scrub Tech Duties:
• Assist providers during C-sections and other surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field.
• Prepare and set up surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of surgical tools.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and prepping for procedures.
• Collaborate with the L&D team to ensure smooth surgical workflow.
Unit Secretary Duties:
• Maintain and manage patient records, charts, and electronic health records (EHR).
• Answer unit phones, relay messages, and direct calls appropriately.
• Schedule procedures and coordinate communication between medical staff.
• Order supplies and ensure the unit is fully stocked.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and overall unit organization.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Certification as a Scrub Tech (CST) preferred or relevant experience in a surgical setting.
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, Obstetrics, or Women’s Health is a plus.
• Clerical experience in a healthcare setting, with knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and office software.
• Strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
