Description
Function: Serves as a liaison between patients, nursing staff, physicians, hospital departments, and clinics. Responsible for preparing outpatient charts, ensuring proper documentation and accurate charging of services provided. Organizes patient schedules and coordinates outpatient treatments such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions, infusions, injections, and pre-admissions for surgery. Obtains orders and authorizations/notifications on all services prior to scheduling. Provides admitting with accurate orders and information to ensure proper admission of ambulatory outpatients. Collaborates with pharmacy to make certain appropriate and ample medications are readily available. Performs clerical duties and maintains organization within unit.

Educational Requirements
Work requires periods of prolonged walking and standing. Lifting and positioning of patients with assistance is required. May come into contact with communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, and hazardous materials. Potential for increased levels of stress. Potential for exposure to; combative, violent and abuse patient behaviors.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED\
- Computer skills preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance and medical terminology in a healthcare/hospital setting.
- Minimum 1 year hospital experience
- CPR within1 (one) year
- Oral and written communication skills
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of insurance with Medicare and Medicaid medical terminology.
